"Sulat" is the Filipino word for write.
Sulat was built by an aspiring novelist and certified fur-mom who wanted a writing companion that could actually hold a whole story together — the manuscript, the story bible, the messy in-between notes — without needing five different tools stitched together with sticky tape and hope. It's the app she wished existed while working on her own books, built one feature at a time, mostly late at night, usually with a cat sitting on the keyboard.
If Sulat helps you finish something you're proud of, that's the whole point.
The in-app dictionary & thesaurus uses data from Princeton WordNet, free for any use under its own license.
You're using Sulat in the browser right now — that works great as-is. Installing just puts it in its own window with its own icon, and lets it keep working offline once it's cached. It's the same app either way; your manuscripts, your Pro license, and your license key all carry over automatically. No app store, no separate download.
On Android (Chrome)
On iPhone or iPad (Safari)
On Windows or macOS (Chrome or Edge)
On Windows, you can also get Sulat as a dedicated desktop app instead, if you'd rather not use the browser version.
The free version covers up to 1 manuscript — plenty to try Sulat properly. Pro is a one-time $30, not a subscription, unlocks the Windows app and the installable web app — which covers Android and iOS — from the same purchase, and adds:
Buy once on Polar — you'll get a license key by email. Paste it below to unlock this device; the same key works on your other Sulat installs too.
You're all set on this device. Setting up a new install (another computer, or after reinstalling)? Paste your license key below, or use your saved key if this browser already remembers it.

Pick who writes with you. The free option needs no signup or key — the others are paid cloud models you connect with your own account.
This runs a small open-source model entirely in your browser — nothing is sent to any server, there's no account to make, and it's completely free. The only cost is a one-time download the first time you use it (it's then cached for next time).
Your browser doesn't support this (it needs a recent Chrome or Edge with WebGPU). Pick one of the other options above and use your own API key instead.
Don't have a key yet? Create one free at console.anthropic.com — sign in, click "Create Key", then paste it below. Cloud requests cost a small amount per use, billed to that account.
Don't have a key yet? Create one free at platform.openai.com — sign in, click "Create new secret key", then paste it below. Cloud requests cost a small amount per use.
Don't have a key yet? Create one free at aistudio.google.com — sign in, click "Create API key", then paste it below. Google's free tier covers light use.
Anything you type here stays on this device: keys are stored solely in this browser's local storage and sent only directly to the provider you chose. The Free Built-in AI never leaves your device at all. If this device is shared or public, avoid pasting API keys here — anyone with access to the browser can read them back out.
Generates a comprehensive report from your manuscript and Reference (Bible) entries — characters, plot threads, continuity notes, and open questions. Optionally upload "chaos notes" (loose .txt/.md/.docx files).
Your report will appear here.
Deleted scenes, folders, and bible entries stay here until you empty the trash.
Trash is empty.
Saved snapshots for the current scene. Restoring a snapshot will overwrite your current unsaved text.
These items were edited on two devices before they could sync with each other. Pick which version to keep for each — or keep both as separate entries.
Each manuscript backs up and syncs to one cloud provider of your choice.
Choose where this manuscript should sync. You can change providers later by disconnecting.

Searches every scene and every Story Bible entry at once. Replace All only rewrites manuscript scenes — Story Bible entries show up in search results but aren't changed by it.
Type something to search your manuscript and Story Bible.
Last 12 weeks — darker means more words that day.
Scans the whole manuscript for words that quietly creep in more than they should.
Cross-references your Story Bible names against the manuscript to catch things like "Sara" sneaking in for a character named "Sarah."
Stitches every scene together in binder order — chapters get a page break and a heading. Folders in the binder are not included as headings, only scenes.
Pick a base and an accent color — everything else (paper, ink, text) follows the base you choose, and the accent shows up on buttons, active tabs, and highlights throughout the app.
This looks like it has 0 chapters or sections. Import each one as its own scene in a new folder, so they show up in the binder the way they do in the original document — or bring it in as a single scene instead.
